Minutes of the meeting of November 4the meeting at 7:53 with 14 in attendance.

 

He presented the Treasurer’s report on WALPEX 2008 noting revenues and expenses, leaving a positive net.  The members gave a round of applause to Norm and the WALPEX Committee for this very successful show.

 

The minutes of the meeting of October 21, 2008 were approved.

 

The President reported the death of member John Breckenridge and the donation of his collections to the Spellman Museum.

 

A first reading was made for applicant Bill Maxwell.

 

New Business

     Three actions were approved unanimously:

          A $100 donation to the Federation’s children’s programs led by Bruce Bolduc.

          A $100 donation to the Museum

          A $ 50 donation to the Museum in memory of John Breckenridge.

     Museum news: Mary Gorman reported on the plans for an upcoming exhibit on wines and a corresponding fund raiser featuring a wine tasting due in March.

 

The meeting closed at 8:26 and was followed by an ATA video on Red Cross related stamps. It honored the founders and showed many of the stamps featuring the Red Cross, literally hundreds of them. A number of covers were shown, many of them prisoner of war related.

In connection with the video, George Norton had prepared a one frame exhibit of Red Cross covers, including many rare items.

 

At the completion of the video Steve Tauber judged the entries to his scavenger hunt. The two finalists, Len Andelexer and Jeff Shapiro, were in very close competition with Len scoring 133 to Jeff's 132.
