Minutes of the meeting of September 2, 2008

 

President Shufrin opened the meeting at 8:02 with 32 in attendance.

 

The treasurer reported a positive balance including escrow for WALPEX 2008. He presented a list of 13 members who are in arrears for dues and asked the Advisory Board to recommend action.

 

The Minutes of the meeting of June 3, 2008 were approved.

 

Visitor Paul Anderson was introduced.

 

A first reading was made for Donna Wilson.

 

Old Business

     Steve Tauber reported that his quest to find old style glassines has failed; the vendor delivering the new style despite the promise of old style.

     Jack Miller said that there are still a few frames left for exhibits at WALPEX and encouraged members to exhibit. Bruce Bolduc said he could show some youth frames.

     Regarding WALPEX 2008, the theme is 100 years of the Boston team under the Boston Red Sox name, one dealer table remains available.

     Regarding the APS Hartford show, there were mixed reviews: poor food, excellent work sessions, good attendance, poor youth program, an excellent bus trip to the show and thanks to the trip organizers.

 

New Business

     The scavenger hunt is coming in the Fall.

     Museum event on September 11 is “meet the Olympians” featuring past Olympians from the area.

 

The meeting closed at 8:29 and was followed by a 222 Lot auction featuring a huge variety of items, including a door from a Post Office mail box.
