Minutes of the meeting of April 21, 2007
This meeting was a trial morning meeting to see if it would attract members who would have difficulty attending evening meetings. The attendees found a groaning board of goodies awaiting them, including fruit juices, coffee, tea, doughnuts, bagels, cakes, fresh fruit, and other pastries.
President Shufrin opened the meeting at 10:08 and welcomed the 19 attendees, many of whom had not attended recent meetings.

The meeting closed at 10:43 and was followed by an excellent DVD presentation of the history of the Pony Express. The material was prepared by the Philatelic Foundation. It was well illustrated and began by showing the various routes used to transport items from the east coast to the west coast including: around the horn, across the isthmus, via a south wagon route, and via a central wagon route. It showed the route of the Pony Express and it showed ruins of posts and restored posts. It had many scenic views of the paths that were followed. It showed examples of rare covers and reported on the financial failure of the venture that lasted only 19 months. An ad was shown seeking riders that were orphans for this dangerous work. The presentation was supplemented by a frame of Pony Express items from the Museum’s collection and prepared by George Norton.
