WALTHAM STAMP CLUB
Minutes of the meeting of March 1,
2011
President
Brouady opened the meeting at 7:50 with 31 in attendance.
A positive
balance is in the treasury.
The minutes
of the meeting of February 15, 2011 were approved with one addition.
President
Brouady reported the death of long time member, George Lupien.
George was member 13 of the club. The club voted to donate $100 to the Museum
in memory of George.
Jean Lenk is
recovering from pneumonia.
Visitors:
Ed Doctoroff
of Belmont and Dave Sawyer of Woburn.
Ed is a member of the club but this was his first meeting.
WALPEX 2011
is scheduled for October 29 and 30. The
WALPEX Committee will meet later in March to discuss preliminary plans.
A first
reading was made for Scott Ridlon.
Bourse News
APS circuit books will be available at the
meeting of March 29th. James
Henke asked the members to provide him with country or topic areas so that he
can obtain relevant circuit books.
Old Business
The Museum Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday,
March 5 starting at 11AM for members.
Mike Morris has obtained a dual wavelength
ultra violet lamp for members use.
New Business
The annual banquet is scheduled for May 3
at a place yet to be determined.
The next meeting
will be a “show and tell”. Mike Morris
will have the microscope ready for use at the show and tell.
The meeting
closed at 8:08 and was followed by a 145 lot auction ably conducted by George
Norton who was not only the auctioneer, but also a winning bidder at times. The
Museum lots attracted vigorous bidding and included a 20 pound box of on paper
definitive US stamps, offered at a minimum 0f 79 cents it went for 5 dollars. There were many albums, supplies and single
stamps available from the members.
