Minutes of the meeting of December 18, 2007

 

President Shufrin opened the meeting at 8:07 with 20 in attendance.

 

The Treasurer reported a positive balance.

 

The minutes of the meeting of November 17, 2007 were approved with a correction to the attribution of the Holocaust DVD from the APS to The Philatelic Foundation.

 

A first reading was made for applicant Dave Bigalow who collects mint US as well as other material.

 

Old Business

·        Mark Butterline commented on WALPEX 2007, noting that there are more dealer deposits for 2008 than ever before. He also said that the web site had more than 500 hits in the weeks before the show.

·        The new Scott’s Classic Catalog has been received.

 

New Business

·        Jim Nalbandian reported that some of the left over auction material has been sold.

·        It is planned to have a Newsletter available late in January.

·        Another dealer has written the Club complimenting the Club for the outstanding treatment given to the dealer.

·        The January to August schedule is available now.

·        The next meeting will be a Club auction; members are encouraged to bring material and money.  The date of this meeting will be January 8 rather than January 1.

 

Following a trivia session on unusual place names, the meeting closed at 8:45 and was followed by a Yankee Swap featuring 12 players with many swaps occurring.

 

It is noted that the meeting of December 4, 2007 was a well attended Phlea market with a rather somnambulant pace of activity.
