Minutes of the Meeting of October 16, 2007

 

President Shufrin opened the meeting at 8:07 with 34 in attendance.

 

The Treasurer’s report showed a positive balance.

 

The minutes of the meeting of October 2, 2007 were approved.

 

The President introduced visitor Paul Anderson. He also introduced two people who are applying for membership: William Welch who specializes in Ireland and Charles Haas with an interest in Egypt.

 

Old Business

     WALPEX – visitors will be welcomed with a bowl of 1000 Hershey kisses, the phish bowl is ready with 60,000 stamps, the Daugherty auction is scheduled for Sunday, and volunteers are sought to help at the show.

 

New Business

     The President reminded members that the second meeting in November will be on Saturday the 17th and will include a brunch and the Philatelic Foundation’s presentation of Holocaust mail.

He also called for a meeting of the Executive Committee just prior to the November 17th meeting.

 

Museum News

     A family program is planned in the near future.

 

The meeting closed at 8:33 and was followed by a 195 lot auction ably presided over by Steve Waxer. The auction included Museum offerings and offerings of club owned material. There were several moments of aggressive bidding and several moments of almost dead silence.
